Bradford County Students Working Against Tobacco Seniors Make their Mark!
May 10, 2020

Students Working Against Tobacco seniors at Bradford High School have worked hard to leave their mark on campus and throughout their community.  Although their senior year did not go as planned, many stepped up and out of their comfort zones and conformed to still make a difference in Bradford County.

During the 2019-2020 school year, the Bradford High School SWAT youth have participated in several campus and community activities to educate and inform their peers, school staff and community about the dangers of tobacco use and a specific focus on e-cigarettes.  These activities were celebrated along with Not a Lab Rat Day (October 16th), Red Ribbon Week (October 23-31), Through with Chew Week (February 16-22), and Tobacco Free Florida Week (May 4-10).  Through these activities, SWAT youth were able to educate about smokeless tobacco, e-cigarettes, the youth E-Epidemic, the SWAT program, and point of sale initiatives.

Through the participation in these events on their school campus and throughout the community the SWAT youth were able to see firsthand how impactful their efforts can be.  The SWAT youth were able to take their efforts in front of the County Commissioners and present not only their local efforts but also the issues we are currently facing locally at the retail point of sale.  It’s awesome to see local efforts move into possible policy change and this year’s SWAT seniors have left a lasting impression.

To our nine seniors, we are so very proud of all you have accomplished over the last four years.  You have made an impact and set the bar extremely high for those that will follow you.  We are truly grateful for the opportunity to work along side you and to see your growth over the last four years and know that your futures will all be bright.  Thank you for your commitment, efforts, love for community and leadership this year and thank you for making SWAT at Bradford High School such a success.

Cheers to you and all of your accomplishments and to your next adventures!
