Tobacco Free Partnership of Bradford County Upcoming Events
September 17, 2013

The new fiscal year has begun and the Tobacco Free Partnership is excited about what is to come! The TFP of Bradford County works in numerous different ways to educate and impact Bradford County on tobacco-related issues.

The Tobacco ree Partnership of Bradford County will be participating in the Cystic Fibrosis “Great Strides Walk” in Starke on September 28, 2013. The Partnership will be a “Friend of the Foundation” Sponsor for the event and will be providing information on second-hand smoke and its impact on youth with chronic lung diseases, including the benefits of Smoke-Free Housing.

Great Strides

The Partnership is also very passionate about assisting businesses with becoming tobacco-tree. The TFP has provided signage to several local businesses in Bradford County to asist them in make decisions related to tobacco policies. We hope to continue this effort in supporting businesses in our local community. The TFP of Bradford County is currently assisting Santa Fe College in Starke by providing signage for their new campus wide tobacco-use policy. Santa Fe College is taking this important step to protect students who choose not to use tobacco. These policies will protect these students from encountering second-hand smoke.

Another important area that the TFP works on in Bradford County is educating on the benefits of policy change to limit youth access to tobacco products. In June of 2013, The City of Starke passed a resolution encouraging restrictions on the sale of flavored tobacco products that target youth.  TFP members will be educating decisionmakers and other partners as the cities of Hampton, Brooker, and Lawtey look to follow the city of Starke by passing similar resolutions.
