AWAY DAY GUIDE: ROCHDALE v CITY

Mark Hughes’ men will contest their final pre-season encounter this afternoon as they travel to the Crown Oil Arena to face recently-relegated Rochdale.

The Bantams make the trip across the Pennines with hopes of replicating their 3-0 win there in April, with action to get underway from 3.00pm.

We have put together a handy Away Day Guide packed full of useful information ahead of the clash.

TICKETS

Tickets have now been taken off sale for this afternoon's trip to the Crown Oil Arena.

Over 700 tickets have already been secured for the Bantams' final pre-season outing. Supporters who need to collect their match tickets from Rochdale can do so from the Ticket Collection Cabin in the car park, opposite the five-a-side pitch. 

Tickets can also be secured on matchday, by visiting the Ticket Collection Cabin from 1.00pm.

ABOUT THE GROUND

The Crown Oil Arena, locally known as the Spotland Stadium, opened in 1906 and Rochdale have used the ground since 1920.

It holds a capacity of 10,249, making the it the ninth-biggest stadium in Sky Bet League Two.

City supporters will be located in the Willbutts Lane Stand, opposite the players' tunnel and dugout.

CAR PARKING

Street parking is available around the ground, but could cost you a parking charge.

The closest parking is Edenfield Road, which is just over 200 yards from the stadium. This is free, but limited in spaces.

Extra parking can be found at Oulder Hill Community School Matchday Car Park, just under half a mile from the Crown Oil Arena, costing £4.

ENTERTAINMENT AND REFRESHMENTS

To drink:

The kiosks at the ground serve alcoholic beverages such as Carling, Guinness, Cask Ale pints and Strongbow for £3.50, whilst Strongbow Dark Fruits is priced at £4.

Non-alcoholic beverages and hot drinks like tea, coffee and soft drinks are also sold in the stadium concourse.

The closest pub to the ground is the Cemetery Hotel which is just over a 10-minute walk from the ground and is located on Bury Road.

To eat:

There is not much in terms of eating outlets close to the Crown Oil Arena.

The ground itself has a varied matchday menu, which sees matchday staples such as a steak pie and a chicken balti pie priced at £3.50.

The Crown Oil Arena ventures outside of traditional matchday menu items and sells a small selection of Indian food such as tandoori chicken kebabs and samosa smash kebabs as well as a 'Wigan Kebab' which are all priced at £4.

GETTING THERE

By car:

Follow the M62 until you get to junction 20, which is just two miles from the Crown Oil Arena.

Follow signs for Rochdale A627(M), until you get to Sandy Lane. The Cemetery pub should be on your right-hand side.

Continue on Sandy Lane for just over half a mile and the stadium will be on your right-hand side.

By train:

Rochdale train station is 2.5 miles, and a 45-minute walk away from the Crown Oil Arena.

Taxis are available outside the train station for £7/8 or you can get the 468 trax from the Rochdale Interchange - an 11-minute walk from the train station - which takes you to the Crown Oil Arena.

Otherwise, it is just under a 40-minute walk from Rochdale train station to the Crown Oil Arena.

As you leave the station, turn left onto Drake Street/A640, turn right as you come up to Park Steet and turn left towards Dane Street A6060.

Continue on Dane Street/A6060 for just over half a mile until you meet the roundabout in which you will take the third exit onto Edenfield Road, you will then take a left onto Willbutts Lane for 350 yards, where you will take a left on to Sandy Lane/B6452 and the Crown Oil Arena will appear.

WEATHER

Travelling Bantams should expect a rainy end to pre-season, as showers and highs of only 12°C are forecast.
